WHO MAKES OUR BASKETS?
We work with Moroccan women's cooperatives to help them become financially independent. They weave our baskets using traditional basket-making techniques. They enable us to create basket formats that are sometimes unique and made-to-measure.
WHO CUSTOMIZES OUR ACCESSORIES?
After being made, our baskets and kits are personalized in our workshop in the heart of Paris. We work with an experienced illustrator, a qualified embroiderer and a leather workshop located in the South of France for our larger series.
WHAT MATERIALS DO WE USE?
Baskets are made from natural fibers, whether dried palm leaves (which are collected, not cut) or raffia.
The leathers for our gris-gris and Bijoux de Sac come from dormant stocks from luxury houses, which we recycle.
We want to remain part of a virtuous circle in the fight against waste, so we recycle these surplus leathers, most of which are vegetable-tanned. The fabrics used for our kits and tote bags come from upcycled Berber plaids to which we give a second life.
A basket is a bag that knows how to blend in with your outfit, but also knows how to give it that je-ne-sais-quoi that the world envies so much to Parisian women, a touch of extravagance cleverly measured.
The Designer
Bold, joyful, instinctive and as crazy as her creations!
Passionate about fashion for as long as she can remember, Maud Fourier studied at the Institut Français de la Mode, then spent 15 years working for luxury houses such as Yves Saint Laurent and Sonia Rykiel, before deciding to strike out on her own.
An entrepreneur at heart, she created a blog, Matemonsac.com, where she photographed and analyzed the contents of her friends' handbags. It quickly became a market place for French accessories. In 2017 she launched her eponymous label of customizable baskets, which has since seen its collections expand to include tote bags and pencil cases made from upcycled multicolored berber blankets!
Each basket Maud creates is a gentle blend of her travels, encounters and history. She imagines them, paints them and customizes them with rhinestones, sequins or leather gris-gris in her Paris workshop.
